Pinback Autumn of the Seraphs

New York - Pinback’s newest release, Autumn of the Seraphs, brings something new to the genre of indie rock. The record flows as perfectly as any record created with artistic integrity should. The songs fit together like puzzle pieces and the progression of the mood carries itself through the record respectably; not at all tugging the listener too much in one particular direction.

For once, ambient/experimental guitar riffs don’t overpower the underrated concept of melody. In fact, if there’s anything that Pinback has truly perfected, especially on this release, it’s melody. And not JUST melody. This band has also perfected the art of harmony, as well. Perhaps these boys spent a whole lot of time in choir at school or church growing up, or maybe they were just born this gifted, but I can honestly say that I haven’t heard melodies OR harmonies like these since The Beatles.

Rob Crow, who has been noted for his work with the band, Team Sleep, has certainly created something far from Team Sleep with Pinback. There’s nothing even remotely abrasive about Pinback’s music. The music is simply beautiful and complex in its own way. It’s so easy to get lost in their music that it’s practically frightening. There’s something very seductive about this dreamy music…something you need to hear.

The band is based out of San Diego, California, but they will be kicking off a west coast tour February 5th. This tour will land them in Portland at the Wonder Ballroom on February 16th and in Seattle at the Showbox Showroom on Valentine’s day, February 14th.
